Elaborated arrangements for exams
Bhopal: Elaborated arrangements have been made for higher secondary and high school examinations in Madhya Pradesh. These exams are beginning from March 3 and 4 respectively. Admit Cards have been provided to all the candidates. On the eve of these examinations, School Education Minister Archana Chitnis reviewed the preparations by holding talks to senior officers. She instructed them to ensure proper facilities for candidates and security at exam centres. There should be facilities of drinking water, light, health etc at the centres.
Right to education in one month
Bhopal: School Education Minister Archana Chitnis has said that her department will implement the provisions of Right to Education Act within one month after its coming into force from April 1. Giving instructions to departmental officers from Burhanpur through video-conferencing, Chitnis asked them to ensure complete arrangements for education of all the children from 6 to 14 years of age.
Regular inspection of colleges
Bhopal: Higher Education and Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma has instructed for preparing a time bound programme for regular inspection of both government and private colleges. Sharma was reviewing departmental activities at a meeting of senior officers. He instructed the officers to monitor inspection work themselves. Those present at the meeting included Principal Secretary Higher Education and Technical Education Jaideep Govind, Commissioner Higher Education Ashish Upadhyaya and senior officers of the two departments.
Music varsity jurisdiction to be expanded
Bhopal: Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma chaired a meeting of general council of Raja Mansingh Tomar Sangeet evam Kala Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior at Swaraj Bhawan here today. The meeting decided that jurisdiction of the university, which is confined to Madhya Pradesh at present, will be made nationwide. Initiative should be taken for necessary amendment in the University Act. The issues related to university's proposed courses, subjects, faculties, exam schedules, affiliation of new colleges and recognition of university's degrees and diplomas were endorsed at the meeting.
Efforts to improve technical education
Bhopal: Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma has said that timely admission tests and counselling will be ensured with a view to increasing quality of technical education in the state. The government will extend its utmost cooperation to engineering colleges in their efforts for qualitative education. Sharma was addressing a workshop on 'excellence in private professional colleges not availing government grant' at Oriental Institute of Science and Technology here today.
Children need to be informed about nature
Bhopal: It is vital for biodiversity conservation that the next generation is linked with it so that they can realise the worth of their natural wealth and pledge for its conservation. These views were expressed by Biodiversity and Technology Department Secretary Jabbar Dhakwala while inaugurating 'International Biodiversity Year 2010' here today. Biodiversity Board's member-secretary Sudhir Kumar, Akhilesh Dubey, DP Tiwari and large number of school children were present on the occasion.
Remarkable improvement witnessed
Bhopal: Remarkable improvement has been witnessed in the results of universities and colleges due to semester system. This came to fore when Higher Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma reviewed the results of exams which were conducted following introduction of semester system. It has been implemented in Madhya Pradesh since 2008-09. Before introduction of semester system, the result of graduate exams was 55.6 percent in the year 2007-08 while after implementation of semester system, it has gone up to 81.12 percent in the second semester exam.
Wipro to train engineering lecturers
Bhopal: In the presence of Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya and Wipro for improvement in the quality of teaching and training of teachers of technical colleges. The MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Piyush Trivedi from university's side and general manager of Wipro Mission 10X Nagarjun. Under the agreement, about 1,000 teachers of state's technical colleges will be imparted training for improving the quality of teaching.
Teachers be engaged in teaching work
Bhopal: The state government has instructed all the District Education Officers to ensure that teachers should remain present at their respective schools and do the academic work devotedly since this will ensure qualitative education. The officers have been told to give top priority to this work. They have also been instructed to undertake assessment of progress of capacity augmentation during the months of September and October. The officers have been asked to register the number of class-l students and teachers in October.
Meritorious students honoured
Bhopal: More than 100 meritorious students were honoured at the state level Children's Day function here today in the presence of School Education Minister Archana Chitnis. Highlight of the function was that Archana Chitnis asked the gold medallist students and winners of Bal Shree awards to honour the rest of meritorious students. Principal Secretary School Education Snehlata Shrivastava and Commissioner Public Instructions BR Naidu were also present on the occasion.
