Stern action against defaulters soon
Bhopal: Minister for Cooperatives and Public Health Engineering Gaurishankar Bisen has asked the cooperative banks to take stern steps against major defaulters and if needed, put up hoardings containing their names on main crossings. Bisen was addressing a meeting yesterday which was convened to discuss ways to help weak cooperative banks overcome their problems and get empowered.
Omega’s first solar power plant launched
Bhopal: Omega Renk Bearings (ORB) Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of white metal line sleeve bearings in association with the German Gildemeister Group, today announced the launch of the country's ''first solar power plant'' with a tracking system at Khajuri Khurd near the Madhya Pradesh capital. Gildemeister Chairman Rudiger Kapitza inaugurated the Rs 2.5-crore unit. ''The plant has been cleared for directly feeding up to 67 KW to the Madhya Pradesh Central Region Power Distribution Company Ltd,'' ORB Managing Director Sushil Prakash told media persons.
Not time for GST in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Minister for Finance and Commercial Taxes Raghavji has reiterated that the time for transition from VAT on goods to Goods & Service Tax (GST) has not yet come because VAT is yet to be fully established in the country and the share of taxable services in the consumption basket of the household is very small.
Investment from Japan soon
Bhopal: Industry Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has hoped that in the times of global recession the strategic initiative of Madhya Pradesh government for promoting investments in agriculture and food processing sector will yield good results and capital investments in Madhya Pradesh will increase. Vijayvargiya is on the tour of Japan along with a delegation of Madhya Pradesh these days. Japan is the last leg of the delegation's tour of three foreign countries. The delegation will depart from Japan for India on Wednesday, November 11.
Diamond sample processing plant
Bhopal: The Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated a diamond sample processing plant set up at a cost of Rs 33 crore at Bunder Project site of Rio Tinto at Buxwaha in Chhatarpur district today. Later, Chouhan went round visiting the newly commissioned plant. In his address, the Chief Minister said that there are immense possibilities of exploring fine quality diamond in the area.

Sugar traders on strike from Oct 1
Bhopal: Annoyed over state government's ongoing drive against them, Madhya Pradesh sugar traders have decided to down their shutters indefinitely from October 1. “All the wholesales and retail sugar traders have decided to stop doing business indefinitely from October 1 in protest against state government officials' raids and seizure of the sugar, which is going to the auctioned,” Madhya Pradesh Sugar Traders Federation President, Ramesh Khandelwal told here today.
Banking services paralyzed in MP
Bhopal: The banking services were totally paralyzed on the second and last day of nationwide strike of nationalized and their associate banks, which came to end on Friday. The ATMs which functioned properly on the first day, went dry on Friday. Business of Rs 3 lakh crore was affected with the two days banks strike. In a response to call for nationwide strike to pay revision and compassionate ground appointment, thousands of bank employees struck banking working and Friday was the second day of strike.
Banking operations were standstill
Bhopal: Banking operations were at a standstill across Madhya Pradesh on the first day of a two-day countrywide strike by nationalised banks in response to a call by the United Forum of Bank Unions. Bank branches were not even unlocked at several places. An apprehension was expressed that most automated teller machines would be empty by evening. Business of Rs 1,50,000 crore was affected.
