Vehicles for civic surgeons
Bhopal: With a view to providing more mobility to health services in the state, vehicles will be made available to all the civil surgeons so that they can undertake more tours. All the block programme officers will be provided laptops with internet data card. This will give a fillip to computerization. Best Performance Awards will be bestowed on ASHA workers with a view to motivating them and incentive money will be given to the rural health committees coming out with best performances. These decisions were taken at a meeting of National Rural Health Mission, which was chaired by Minister for Public Health & Family Welfare, Medical Education, AYUSH, Biodiversity and Biotechnology and Public Grievances Redressal Anup Mishra. The meeting finalised the mission's proposed budget for the year 2010-11 under which Rs 11.12 hundred crore has been made for improving health services. Those present at the meeting included Secretary Public Health and Family Welfare SR Mohanty, Commissioner Health Services and Mission Director Mohan Agnani, Health Director Ashok Sharma and Joint Commissioner SK Shrivastava.
Reviewing the proposed budget, Mishra said that training agency should be fixed by March 31 for better training of ASHA workers. He said that a provision for 'community mobiliser' should be made in the proposed budget for ASHA workers. The Health Minister instructed to provide vehicle facility to all the civil surgeons in the state and monitoring should be undertaken about their tours of the health institutions under their jurisdiction. He said that Health Fairs should not remain a mere formality but should be given a meaningful dimension. He instructed to hold Health Fair-cum-referral camp from where patients should be referred and their cards should be prepared so that their treatment can continue unabated. The Health Minister instructed to provide laptops with internet facility to all the block programme officers for expediting activities and effective monitoring of health schemes and programmes at the lowest level. He instructed to make a provision of this in the proposed budget.
Joint Direct Health SK Shrivastava told the meeting that special provisions have been made in the proposed budget for measures to check mother and child mortality rates, family planning, strengthening services of ASHA workers and making it result-oriented. He said that adequate budgetary provisions have been made for primary sub-health centres, primary health centres and community health centres.
